 Works as advertised and then some September 9, 2010

After realizing car rental companies charge nearly $10/day per carseat, I decided to purchase this item intending to gate check 2 car seats. I actually purchased 2 of these bags but both car seats (both graco standard sized seats) fit easily into a single bag which made carrying them much easier. I realized at the airport that getting them through the xray scanners could be difficult so I decided to check them as regular bags (no baggage fee because these are an exempt item). On the outbound flight, the bag fared without a scratch, fully protecting the carseats from any damage and a few grease marks. On the return flight, I used the other new bag I had purchased and it suffered only a small tear on one of the bottom seams but it still fully protected the carseats from any damage or grease.
The bottom line is these are intended for gate checking bags but they will still perform reasonably well in a pinch if you check them with regular baggage. I would'nt expect these to hold up for repeated flights as checked bags but for one or two round trips, I would expect these to hold up pretty well. For use as intended as gate checked bags I would expect them to perform as advertised for quite some time.

Product tore into shreds for our 1 hour direct flight. We checked in at gate. Material is super cheap. You would have better luck putting the car seat in a Hefty Trash Bag.

We have owned this for about 4 months now ... It's been on flights from OKC/DFW to Salt Lake City (3 times), Los Angeles, and Honolulu ... Why anyone gives this less than 5 stars is beyond us!?!?!!? I don't think AMAZON's rules allow me to say how much we paid for it, but I'm sure the price you are looking at right now isn't that much different (if at all) from what we paid ... It's NOT expensive and it does EXACTLY what it claims to do ... Saves your car seat!!!
It's worked PERFECTLY for us and while there are a few "oil spots" on it after all the flight listed above ... It's DEFINITELY still completely nice and useable. Great product ... people will whine about anything ... This product isn't one to complain about.

Well about all I can say for this product is it's affordable. The bad news is I already had to throw it away. We gate checked it on a trip from the West coast to the East coast and it didn't survive the full trip. One of the seams tore out before we made it home. Do yourself a favor and get something nicer if you plan to travel by air.
If you're just looking for a dust cover to store your seat in the garage maybe this thing will work.
